What is a Headless CMS and When Should You Use One?

Have you heard the term “Headless CMS” before? A headless CMS is a modern approach to managing and delivering content where the back-end and front-end are completely detached from each other. Unlike a traditional CMS, where content is managed and delivered together in a coupled state, a headless CMS delivers content through an API to any front-end. The idea is trendy, but not always well understood. Clients often aren’t quite sure if they should go headless. We advise them based on their needs and priorities, not buzzwords and trends. In this article, we use a restaurant analogy to explain the concept of a headless CMS, break down the possible benefits, and explore when it might be a good fit.
