The Space Between Screens
It can be easy to think of a user’s experience as a series of screens. Moving from one screen to the next until they achieve the goal you’ve set out for them. However there’s a lot of room for error along the way. Networks fail, user data may be incomplete, and sometimes they just encounter bugs.
These undesired states are perfect opportunities to create memorable moments and delightful interactions.
By giving a little attention to loading, failure, and empty states, we can shift users away from dull or frustrating situations and into the happy path we’ve set out for them. It just takes a little thought.
