It felt a bit like the first day of school last month as we slipped off our backpacks and chose hug, high-five, or say hi stickers. We'd traveled from around the country to Richmond, VA, for three days of reflection, goal-setting, celebration, and inspiration at one of our first in-person all-hands events since reopening our offices.
Clearly, a lot has changed since we last came together – new hairstyles, kids, pets, hobbies – and Viget itself looks very different than it did in March of 2020. For example, ~25% of the company (including me) is now fully remote, and there was quite a bit of meeting-for-the-first-time-IRL. Yes, a lot has changed.
But much of the good has remained the same. TTT was a beautiful reminder of that. (TTT stands for Third Third Thursday and it's what we call our all-hands events.)
Peers gave deep dives into big project wins and challenges, as well as talks on industry trends and opportunities. We celebrated folks who have been at Viget for 5, 10, and 15 years and recognized those who earned promotions. And we enjoyed late-night conversations and guitar sing-a-longs for the first time in years. TTT was a blast, and I’m already looking forward to the one next quarter. Maybe next time you can join us!

The Spirit of Place and the Presence of Spirit
by Cora Hermary via The Colloquium
Place attachment has primordial origins in ancient Roman religion, when places were thought to each have a genius loci, a protective spirit (genius) over that place (loci); various mythological deities were revered and paid homage to as the geniuses of designated loci. Since then, its definition has evolved to encompass a more secular notion of the “spirit of a place.”

Dare to Lead Values
by Brené Brown via Dare to Lead
Living into our values means that we do more than profess our values, we practice them. We walk our talk—we are clear about what we believe and hold important, and we take care that our intentions, words, thoughts, and behaviors align with those beliefs.
