FALLS CHURCH, VA – Designers Samantha Warren and Erik Olson will be among nine inaugural presenters on Feb. 29, 2008 who will speak at DC Design Talks at Viget Labs' headquarters in Falls Church. The event, which falls on Leap Year Day, is catered to the larger design community in the capital region.
Warren will be speaking on web typography and Olson on sane user experience in Flash. Other speakers include:
- Thomas Vander Wal on coming to terms with sociality
- Rob Goodlatte on justifying design
- Patrick Haney on the laws of design
- Jackson Fox on research-driven design
- Alex Giron on finding design inspiration.
Organizers of the conference – which costs $35 and runs from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. with a social following – include Jason Garber, user experience engineer at Mixx.com, and Viget's M. Jackson Wilkinson, senior strategist.
"This is going to be the first in a quarterly series covering design, development, strategy, and everything in between," Wilkinson said. "Hopefully, this is the beginning of a long series that's both financially accessible and successful in delivering a high degree of quality and content to practitioners in the web community."
