Viget Receives Two Pixel Award Nods for Designs

FALLS CHURCH, VA – Viget Labs, a dynamic, full-service web consulting firm based in the City of Falls Church, VA, has received two Pixel Award nominations for outstanding web design. HealthyChild received a nomination in the non-profit category, and Funside was nominated in the travel category.

Healthy Child, Healthy World "is dedicated to protecting the health and well-being of children from harmful environmental exposures." Their site, built entirely in Expression Engine, features a blog, Flash animation, and a design based in a vibrant, contemporary color scheme.

"HealthyChild has such an important purpose, and we wanted the design to appeal to the core demographic of parents," said Senior Designer Rob Soule, who provided the creative lead on the project. "The simple navigation and strategic visual call-outs help these users find the information they're seeking quickly and easily."

Funside, a Ruby on Rails-based site, is the official web site of the Alexandria (Virginia) Convention and Visitors' Association (ACVA).

"Alexandria is a great town with so much history, culture, and a wide array of things to do," said Thanny Young, Design Director and creative lead on the project. "We designed a site that provided both out-of-town visitors and local Washingtonians with a comprehensive listing of landmarks, dining, shopping, accommodations, and events. The site design carries the warmth of the dog-friendly town and prominently features Alexandria’s mascot, Scottie, in the header."

Pixel Award winners will be announced at the end of October, and Viget is hoping to add more accolades to a year that includes an SXSW award for Squidoo.
