Refresh Boulder, It’s Real and It’s Happening! Thursday, August 22nd
We at Viget are a sociable bunch. We love getting out from behind the warm glow of our laptop screens and having some real life facetime with our peers. Local meetups are a chance to match the twitter avatar to a real face.
We also love Refresh. We've been actively involved in Refresh DC and Refresh the Triangle for years. So when we opened the Boulder office in 2010 and designers and developers started to migrate west to Colorado, there was much sadness at the lack of a regular Refresh meetup close to home. The Boulder design community is growing and thriving, with meetups like Caffeinated Mornings, Design Hour, and UX Book Club. We want to help it continue to grow and flourish. Bringing Refresh to Boulder seems like a great next step. Its manifesto addresses what we want for our local community:
Let's Gather Great Minds
Let's Share All Of Our Knowledge
Let's All Grow And Learn
Let's Promote Local Talent
Let's Be More Than We Think Can Be
Let's Make Our Cities Better
On Thursday, August 22, we're kicking off the very first Refresh Boulder event! Our own Laura will start the event off with a presentation about overcoming collaboration challenges. From the Eventbrite description:
At its best, collaboration throughout the design and development process generates stronger ideas and better work. At its worst, collaboration is an expensive way to waste time.
Competing interests, remote teams, tight timelines, and ambiguous action items are common hurdles to successful collaboration at interactive agencies. This month, Laura Sweltz, a User Experience Designer at Viget, will discuss these challenges and share ideas for how you can lead the charge towards better collaboration within your organization.
Afterwards we'll grab some drinks and food at Lazy Dog. Find out all the details and RSVP on our Eventbrite page. Hope we'll see you there! And follow us on Twitter @RefreshBoulder to keep up to date on news and other upcoming events.
We'd love to make Refresh Boulder a true communal effort. Please get in touch if you have any interest in hosting an event, presenting and sharing some knowledge of your own, sponsoring an event with some pizza and beverage-based sustenance, or even just to share some ideas or feedback!
