We love creative storytelling here at Viget, so when founder Brad Russell asked Viget to be a founding partner of the Washington West Film Festival, we were thrilled to join the team.  “Story can change the world” is the tagline for the festival, and they put their money behind it by donating the box office net proceeds to charity each year.  They’re also out to change Washington (not easy) by making our home a destination for one of the premier independent film festivals in the world.

The festival is just in its third year; but, it’s already living up to the founding team’s ambitious vision.  Starting this Wednesday, October 23rd and running through Sunday, October 27th, some 2,000 fans will attend 41 screenings of new independent and Hollywood films.  Venues include the Reston Bow Tie Cinemas and the new Angelika Film Center in Merrifield.

I was honored to attend last year to see "Picture Paris" by writer-director Brad Hall, starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus.  Both attended the screening and generously stayed for a Q&A with the audience.  I was even a bit star-struck when Julia retweeted my Instagram photo:

Opening night this week is sold out; but, you can still get tickets for 40 screenings in a variety of Northern Virginia locations.  Visit wwfilmfest.com/tickets for more.
