Viget Labs - We Build Web Business

Web Project Manager

Viget Labs is a full-service web consulting and development firm headquartered in Falls Church, VA with an office in Durham, NC.  We've been at it since 1999 and have earned a solid reputation as a rare firm that does both great design and development work when building award-winning web sites.  We work with early-stage web start-ups (e.g, Squidoo, Odeo, Loladex, and a few we can't talk about yet), as well as mature businesses (e.g., National Geographic, Choice Hotels) and non-profits (e.g., PBS, EarthEcho).

Our Web Project Managers:

  • Are more than just project managers.  They have a marketing, copywriting, or agency background and understand that web sites are at the core of any good marketing effort these days.
  • Have a knack for building rewarding, long-term relationships with clients thanks to keen attention to detail, responsive and professional communication, an eye for identifying and mitigating risks, and thorough planning from conceptualization through analysis.
  • Love working with some of the most talented designers and web developers in the business – and they get why having both on one team is such a great thing for them and the client.
  • Are cool with receiving recognition when they bring successful projects to life with the best possible solutions.
  • Get made fun of by their friends because they’re “too” organized (as if THAT’S possible).
  • Are cool with wearing many hats.  They never say “that’s not my job” and they recognize (and value) the dual role of a small-team PM (part lead consultant, responsible for defining a workable solution, answering the hard questions, and ensuring overall quality; and part project coordinator, responsible for tasking, budgeting, detailed communication, and all the little things that otherwise fall through the cracks).
  • Have some experience with HTML, CSS, basic JavaScript, and web analytics tools (such as Google Analytics), and understand the basics of server-side scripting languages such as PHP.
  • Meet deadlines across multiple, simultaneous projects (because it pains them NOT to), while leading by example (and with natural ease) and rolling up their sleeves to get the job done whenever necessary.
  • Make others jealous with their writing and communication abilities.
  • Demonstrate integrity and believe in and exude the vision of our company at all times.

To be considered, you should exhibit these characteristics and also:

  • Have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Have 2-4 years post-grad experience (ideally) in a consulting or interactive agency role.
  • Understand the basics of search engine optimization (SEO), pay-per-click advertising and (PPC) – and, while you might not have heard of social media marketing (SMM), you should be able to guess what we mean, think that it’s pretty cool, and want to learn more.
  • Want to learn new technologies, tackle new challenges, and grow professionally.
